Not exactly sure why I'm bothering with this account. I guess the lightning parts were fun and whatnot. Big low wall cloud above, nw of Concordia KS.

Same storm, not doing quite as well now, but still able to put down a lot of CGs.

The first bolt I saw here flickered several times, so I thought, hell I could get that with the still camera right now. So I have both the video camera(these smaller images/captures) and my still camera mounted to my window. On the video you can hear my shutter clicking a split second after all these CGs I got on video. I was getting really annoyed missing them. Also, the horizontal line you see in some, that is the rolling shutter crap that comes with CMOS sensors on video cameras. Watch out birdy! Left of bolt above.

I would have loved a wide angle still of the storm structure with any of these bolts, but no. I wasn't fast enough and they weren't a pulsating like that first one did. I just realized, good thing that semi was there so I can't see what is getting hit! This area was rather bad for finding a good view(at least here east sure was). Backed into this grassy deal and wasn't going to look some more just because a semi would be in the shot.

My storm was vanishing so I decided to drop back south to Concordia to chase a bowing line. Well it wasn't much bowing yet on radar, but was about to. As I started to go south I noticed, hey, this thing is hauling east! I'd already been to Concordia and then went back north for that first storm. So I was now repeating and going back south.

Needing to get into Concordia to take the highway east. It beats me to that highway.

South ends of lines are really never as interesting as north ends of them. They rarely turn into supercells. So I opted north. This was curling around up there pretty good. It soon weakens and I see on radar the south end was trying to break off into a supercell. Surprise surprise. Back south I went! So the day goes south, north,....south, north.....south...then west then home/northeast.

I made it to that high based supercell near Clay Center but it was soon dying too. This is what one expects on days with near or over 180 degrees of shear/turning with height. They do good till they start ingesting their own rain cooled air. Over and over. But as that supercell was dying there was another forming to the west-southwest. So time to go south some more and west to that thing. This is it west of Abilene KS.

Also on days with too much turning, you can count on getting rained or sprinkled on at all times ahead of the storms. At least the winds were out of the east, so I could mount the camera to my window and hold a map above it out of frame and really not get water on the lens. Arm sure as hell gets tired doing this for long though.

A new updraft and base got cranking south of the first one, earning a tornado warning from that pointed deal there behind that house. I went east with this till about Manhattan. I then drove east to Topeka in the rain, then north. The left overs from it were spinning away, racing northeast, and overtake me at Holton. I then catch a break from driving in the rain from about Sabetha KS to Nebraska City. Then rain again the rest of the way home. I'm constantly amazed at how bad painted lines are allowed to become before they will paint them again. So often you honestly can't see them and have no clue where the road is. I think, we went to the moon how long ago now, and yada yada yada inventions since then.....and this is all we have for what we travel on, for marking lanes!? Paint that evidently is too hard to replace with any regularity or just doesn't last? Add in black top and no visible paint, with rain....oh great times. Then of course you have the numerous idiots that don't dim their brights. Or the ones that think it's ok to use them on the interstate. I had a blast allowing myself the same right each time I saw those people. "Can YOU see now!?" I hope not. Or the ones you get by and they think it's ok to use their brights because they are behind you. As your whole interior looks like you've got the sun along with for the ride, making it that much more fun to try and find those "painted" lines as you get rained on. I'm in a wonderful mood by the time I get home, I tell ya lol. Rain....makes that drive back sooooo much worse. I wonder how many die a year because of lacking paint, as they drive in the rain. I bet a lot. Hell I80 from Lincoln to the Platte River was a fine example of this. It's all construction with some seriously lacking "lines". Drove that in heavy rain one night not long ago and couldn't believe it either. I was just like, why is it not a priority to update the paint a bit! I get to the other side of the river and bam, night and day difference with good lines. I thought, wow, what a concept....markings you can see. It's sad how bad so many areas are with this.
