Jupiter and Venus racing for the horizon now. It was getting pretty hard to see them.

Jupiter and Venus have set, time to pull out the telephoto. No sense in leaving now just because the planets are gone, other than being freaking cold. A warm car has simply never sounded as good as it did by now.

It's interesting how well those lines in the interstate pavement show up, the long ones going sideways.

This might be close to 400mm. I can't remember if I ever was able to go all the way out. I really wish the thing was over I-80. I swore it would be off what I figured out online before leaving. Funny, I just looked at the piece of paper I wrote the times and directions down on, including the 3 interstate angles. Had I looked at the paper, I'd see I wrote it down correctly, as it setting left of I-80 here, lol. Not that it mattered, since 2 of the options were this same direction and the 3rd that would have worked had power lines. Hmmm, I'm going to have to do this again with the moon when it will line up. That would probably be cool, if I was able to look right down the middle of I-80 while the moon set in the middle.

I let this one go a while. I think it was over 2 minutes.

Here is one from 3 nights prior. Jupiter and Venus in my parent's kitchen(on the wall). Of course I set this up and leave the lens cap on the telescope. My camera is pointed out the sliding glass door at the planets. With the lights on inside you mostly see the reflection of what is inside. If you look closely you can see the treeline near the clock. And there is a double refelction due to the two pieces of glass in the door. |
