It must be chase season! You can't have a chase without anvils and trains. I'm south of Dodge City somewhere.

It's always nice to see the first storms of the year, though I'm not sure it was worth the drive. It was nice to test out the new data connection, which was awesome...outside of the laptop issues. MSN messenger would not stop signing me in, even after I told it not to, and then even after I supposedly removed all signs of it. I'd connect while driving and sure enough, someone would start pm'ing me. To add to the frustration, I couldn't see anything but thier pm window so I couldn't sign out. To add more frustration, it would freeze up the computer and I'd have to shut it off. I was getting all sort of messages saying crap about the registry and it having to shut down in 60 seconds. Time to reformat the thing and get rid of the crap programs on it. Sorry to anyone that I didn't answer that pm'd. Half the time I simply couldn't because it froze up.

I'm a bit rusty on photographing the sky. Pretty much all my shots of this sunset were overexposed. If you nuke the sun on your shot, it shows just how well the exposure compensation in RAW conversion does nothing for you. I should have been able to get this shot showing the sun very much not blown out, albeit with a darker storm and sky(and I'm sure it was less than 2 stops). I sure can't correct it in conversion, lol. Don't count on conversion.

Another nuked version of this sunset. It is funny this was shot very near Fowler KS. I head east to be closer to the target the next day and guess what is tornado warned in 3 hours from now? This exact area! Oh well. Note on motels: Why are motels putting shower heads at chin level? I'm noticing this more and more. You about have to fall on your face to get your head wet. Oh and I almost forgot. The super 8 in Pratt had another issue. The heating/cooling unit allowed no way to make the fan run all night. For those who have to have a fan to sleep, this sucks! It had a thermostat and no way to make the fan keep running. No, I tried to freeze myself out and make it run that way. It would only go to 60. So what do I try to do? I crank it and make it hot in there. Then I bottomed it out at 60 and tried to beat it to sleep lol. I failed. It makes it harder to fall asleep when you are trying to do it before something shuts off. I was close once, then it shut off and I let the silence get into my head. Finally after a few more tries I beat it. |
